Sept. 20 is Ulster Literacy Day, and Rough Draft will be joining other bookstores around the county in donating a portion of sales (10% of books and merchandise) from the entire day to help fund ULA’s free literacy programs for adults. Supporting ULA this year is especially meaningful, at a time when Donald Trump's 2026 budget proposal calls for the complete elimination of federal funding for adult literacy programs under the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act—an unprecedented move that, if enacted by Congress, would profoundly impact organizations like this one.
