“Up from the Ashes: The Burning of Kingston and the Aftermath” Film Screening and Presentation

The organizers of the biennial Burning of Kingston are hosting this special film screening and presentation of the new short film showing the 2017 Burning of Kingston reenactments, events, and history, presented by local producer/videographer Tonianne Fleig. The short film will be accompanied by live colonial period music. Following the screening, the filmmaker, local historians, and Burning of Kingston organizers will be available for questions and discussion.

Noted publisher, Cornell Emeritus Professor of History, Dr. Stuart Blumin, will then present on “Up from the Ashes: Kingston After the Revolutionary War.” He will discuss the conditions and events in Kingston after the Burning, and in the Hudson Valley after the Revolutionary War. This screening will be part of New York State’s Path Through History weekend.
