Poetry Reading: Jared Harél, Cory Nakasue & Susie DeFord

Join Jared Harél for a reading and signing featuring his new book of poetry, Go Because I Love You, along with readings by local poets Cory Nakasue and Susie DeFord.

Téa Obreth says of Go Because I Love You: "If you’ve strayed from poetry, Jared Harél is the writer that will bring you back."And Anders Carlson-Wee calls it "funny, heartbreaking, and downright scary—all at the same time."

Jared has been awarded the Stanley Kunitz Memorial Prize from American Poetry Review, the William Matthews Poetry Prize from Asheville Poetry Review, and an Individual Artist Grant from Queens Council on the Arts. He teaches writing at Nassau Community College, plays drums for the rock band Flyin’ J & The Ghostrobber, and lives in Queens with his wife and two kids.

Cory Nakasue’s poetry has been published in Aligned Magazine, Summer Stock Journal, and editions of Sweet Action Poetry’s anthologies. She is working on her first collection of poetry, Glamour Blister (forthcoming 2019 End Paper Press).

Susie DeFord's work has appeared in BOMB, Poets and Artists, Work Zine, Dog Fancy, Shampoo, the Anthology "Dogs Singing," amongst others. She teaches at The Kingston Writers Studio in Kingston, and runs Susie’s Pet Care, a dog boarding & training business in Catskill. Her first book of poems, The Dogs of Brooklyn, is available now!
